The increased use of VFD ( Variable Frequency Drives ) & WRAS Approved Cables  in the Water Industry

As cable supplier we are being asked a lot recently for WRAS Approved cables with a screening to offer EMC protection and when we started to dig a little deeper with our customers we found that there seems to be a move towards VFD drives and as a result they are looking for a screened cable option.

VFD’s offer consumers a reduction in Energy Consumption and  therefore Energy Costs

If consumers have an application that does not need to be run at full speed, then they can cut down energy costs by controlling the motor with a variable frequency drive, VFDs have the ability to match the speed of the motor-driven equipment to the load requirement,  no other method of AC electric motor control that allows you to accomplish this.

Electric motor systems are responsible for more than 60% of the power consumption so by optimizing motor control systems & upgrading to VFDs  consumers can reduce energy consumption  by as much as 65%.

The addition of WRAS approval seems to be the new “standard” for water authorities when it comes to cables installed in drinking water environments.

As a result Contact Cables has the perfect cable to offer our Clean EMV cable  this cable is both screened and  has WRAS approval  http://www.contactcables.com/wp-content/uploads/CLEAN-CABLE-EMW_CAT_AUTOMAZIONE_2018-04-REV.0.pdf

These Screened WRAS approved round clean cables are for use with submersible pump motor feeders, the cable maybe installed in water depths of 600 Mtrs , both in dirty and drinking water. The cables carry ACS, KTW, WRAS and D.M164, AD8  approvals.

So if you are looking for a WRAS approved cable for a VFD application then we have the solution for you .
